Modelling the load-deformation behaviour of lap splices with the Tension Chord Model

چکیده

Lap splices are part of virtually every structure made reinforced concrete. As loads need to be transferred safely along these discontinuities, numerous studies focused on their strength. However, even though they traditionally placed also in highly loaded regions elements, which potentially undergoing plastic deformations, little attention has been paid load-deformation behaviour and deformation capacity. This study presents a sound mechanical model based the established Tension Chord Model assess lap splices. A thorough analysis load transfer mechanism reveals that major is at beginning end splice. Therefore, splice acts as double tensile element over considerable length, drastically reduces its capacity less than half minimum value expected for adjacent parts. especially needs addressed performance-based design methods, where demand compared existing The theoretical results validated with recently conducted experimental campaign, exhibiting excellent agreement data. Besides comprehensive influencing parameters, simplified modelling approach practical applications recommendations new structures presented this publication.

Behaviour of poorly detailed lap-splices under cyclic loading

This paper presents the first part of a series of uniaxial cyclic tests on lap-splices. The work is conducted within the framework of a project on the seismic behaviour of existing, poorly detailed bridge piers which are typically constructed with a lap-splice above the footing. The test series presented here was initiated to study the influence of load history, especially with regards to the c...

the evaluation of language related engagment and task related engagment with the purpose of investigating the effect of metatalk and task typology

abstract while task-based instruction is considered as the most effective way to learn a language in the related literature, it is oversimplified on various grounds. different variables may affect how students are engaged with not only the language but also with the task itself. the present study was conducted to investigate language and task related engagement on the basis of the task typolog...

determinant of the hankel matrix with binomial entries

abstract in this thesis at first we comput the determinant of hankel matrix with enteries a_k (x)=?_(m=0)^k??((2k+2-m)¦(k-m)) x^m ? by using a new operator, ? and by writing and solving differential equation of order two at points x=2 and x=-2 . also we show that this determinant under k-binomial transformation is invariant.
